ATLANTA - Dec. 30, 2013 - PRLog -- Rahman Apacansis can’t catch a break.  The 74 year old man who is fighting two different forms of cancer was robbed Friday night by locals after they found out an advocacy group, Stubby’s Heroes, was helping him.

On December 27, 2013, Mr. Apacansis’ door was kicked in and thieves took everything they could carry.  Thankfully, Mr. Apacansis and his dog, Lady, were out with advocates.  Stubby’s Heroes relocated the man and his dog to a temporary safe place on Saturday.

Johanna Falber, Founder of Stubby’s Heroes said, “A concerned Atlanta Police Officer told us about him, and that he and his pit bull, Lady, were living in a room in a very dangerous part of town. She also told us that Mr. A was now living there after having to move from a safer apartment because of Lady’s breed. In the middle of trying to relocate him, locals came in and took alot of what had been donated such as dog food, dry food for him, and a few things that they could carry out quickly. Mr. A’s door was compromised and because the landlord was not making an effort to remedy the situation, we moved him the following morning in front of all those that had robbed him the night before.”

Stubby’s Heroes is an animal welfare organization that educates and legislates for the safety of pit bulls.  When they heard about Mr. Apacansis’ pit, Lady, they jumped to help the gentleman to move to safety so he and his dog could live without fear.  “We don’t just help pit bulls.  We help families and Mr. A. and Lady are a family,” said Ms. Falber.
