Rare Collection of Original Early Star Trek Photos head to Auction Block
Photos from 1970s of earliest Star Trek Conventions with major cast members. There were earlier conventions but not with this star power. These are the official photos taken by the event photographer Jeff Maynard.
Back in 1975 Angelique Trouvere attended the Star Trek Convention at the Hotel Commodore in New York City. She was joined by tens of thousands of other Trekkies. This was one of the very first mainstream Star Trek Cons and had major stars in attendance Gene Roddenberry George Takei, Jimmy Doohan, Mason Reese, Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, William Shatner, Authur Saha, Hal Clement, Will Ware Thiess, Robert Lansing, Diane Duane, Mavel Barrett, and David Gerrold.
These conventions were full of fun including the masquerade contest. Many of the Trekkies donned elaborate home made costumes including Angelique Trouvere. The costumes were wild, and often risque.
Jeff Maynard was the official photographer at the event and as such took many public and behind the scene photos of the stars and the attendees. As you can imagine Maynard's lens found the attractive Ms. Trouvere more than once. These photographs taken over the course of several years at various conventions were left to Ms. Trouvere by Maynard before his death.
These pictures were featured in a Newsweek article “Where Trekkies Were Born” and are now being offered in an auction ending January 1, 2014 by Mound City Auctions. Many of the photos come with full reproduction rights and many have their negatives.
Included in the auction are vintage comic books, and vintage movie posters.
The pictures may be viewed via links from our auction.
