Datalink Bankcard Services Company Helping Merchants With MasterCard PAN Verification

Quicker transactions are expected to occur as a result of this change

RICHARDSON, Texas - Dec. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- Effective June 2, 2014, MasterCard will no longer permit the last 4-digits of the Primary Account Number (PAN) to be printed on the back of the card in the MasterCard Signature Panel. This means that the banks issuing Mastercard cards to consumers and businesses will no longer be allowed to print the last 4 numbers of the card number on the back of the card as they currently do.

As a result, Datalink Bankcard Services Company is assisting merchants with any questions or issues they may have or encounter. “We believe this change will benefit both the merchant and customer”, said Steve Odom, CEO, of Datalink Bankcard Services Company.

MasterCard has had a long standing requirement for merchants to verify these last four digits of the customer card number with the actual embossed number on the front of the card. Effective June 2, 2014, merchants will no longer be required to compare the last 4-digits of the PAN on the front and back of the card to validate the authenticity of the card. This will result in quicker transaction completion times between the merchant and the consumer.
