By the Power Invested: Illustrious Reverend Alfreda Lanoix is Set to Make History

Dec. 26, 2013 - PRLog -- The beloved and celebrated Reverend Alfreda Lanoix will be officiating the momentous wedding on the Aids Healthcare Foundation’s,  “ Living the Dream” float at the 2014 Rose Parade.  It will be the first same sex marriage presented at the Rose Parade which will be celebrating 125 glorious years on January 1, 2014. The Aids Healthcare Foundation assembled the float to coincide with their “Love is the best Protection” theme in commemorating the historic passing of legislation that has opened the doors for same sex couples to get married.  Reverend Lanoix will marry the loving couple, Aubrey Roots and Danny LeClair, who  have been together for over a decade.

Reverend Alfreda posted a powerful statement on Facebook regarding being chosen. “Humbled to be chosen to officiate the wedding at the Rose Parade. History in the making. People ask me, “are you ready to be seen by over 60,000,000 people all over the world?” I had to ask myself the same question.  And what I came to realize is, I have prepared for moments just like this. The day I thought dying was better than living due to my sexuality, I felt the shame of bringing it to my children was unbearable, but I choose to live….that prepared me, or the moment I stood in my classroom and came out in class…. That prepared me , or the day when I declared that the God of your understanding was just that YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND I HAD THE RIGHT TO HAVE THE GOD OF MY UNDERSTANDING, or when my mother said she would never visit my house as long as I was with that woman, or when my child was so angry with me because of my sexuality, I had to be ok that he might not be able to accept me, but I would have to love him right where he was….so to that question, I HAVE PREPARED FOR THIS MOMENT all my LIFE.” Reverend Alfreda just recently opened the doors to her Love @ Work: The Exchange Spiritual Center.
