By: NJ MET Toys and games have been collected since Thanksgiving and will be delivered on Christmas Eve. Donations are still being accepted. Since 2001, Wayne, NJ resident Joseph Federico has led this drive at NJ MET which has collected many toys for distribution throughout the New Jersey area. Last year’s recipients were St. Joseph's Hospital. Paterson, NJ Pediatric Department and the Union Beach, NJ "Hurricane Sandy" Toy Drive. “We look forward all year to doing this drive which makes the holidays a little brighter for many underprivileged and sick children,” said Joseph Federico from NJ MET’s headquarters in Clifton, NJ. “We are encouraging colleagues, family members and friends to participate in this worthy cause by supporting our drive. Donations need not be expensive, there are plenty of low priced games and toys that are sure to bring smiles,” Federico said. According to their website, (http://www.oasisnj.org/ Oasis provides educational programming and critical support services, including food, clothing, and social services to women and children living in poverty. Programs focus on basic needs (food and clothing), adult education and youth development programs. Oasis adult education programs include basic literacy, GED, and ESL classes and vocational training (home health aide, computer skills, and culinary arts). “Oasis fills a vital and much needed service in our community. We are very happy to provide this assistance to Oasis and their clients. It brightens everybody’s holidays to do this,” Joseph Federico said.
