DULUTH, Ga. - Dec. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Georgia's Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful – a volunteer-driven non-profit organization that is dedicated to promoting a healthier, safer and more livable Gwinnett – is putting the final touches on their 34th Annual ECoS (Environmental Consciousness and Stewardship) Awards Dinner. Hosted at the Gwinnett Center on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 6 to 9 p.m., the purpose of this very special event is to honor environmental stewards within the Gwinnett County community and celebrate combined conservation efforts that been accomplished over the course of the previous year.

Ever since its inception in 1980, Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful has fostered relationships with individual volunteers and corporate partners, while making a point to recognize the remarkable efforts of a handful of outstanding environmental stewards. To be considered for a prestigious ECoS Award, each year a team of judges reviews a slate of nominees that are proposed by Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful board members and community partners. The judges select an honoree for each of the eleven ECoS Award categories. The best of the best are selected based on their on-going efforts to:  Create a greener, cleaner, more livable Gwinnett; Preserve or enhance the beauty of our environment; Improve community and environmental practices; and/or Improve awareness of environmental stewardship.

To that end, Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful wishes to congratulate the following 2013 ECoS honorees:

Best Green Recycler: Supermercado Tapatio

Best Green Partner: Waste Management

Best Green Neighborhood: Beaver Hills Civic Association

Best Green Industry: Rehrig Pacific

Best Green Business: Allgood Pest Solutions

Best Green  Building: Annandale Transition House

Best Green Government: Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office

Best Green Youth Group: Peachtree Ridge High School Green Team

Best Green Educator: Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful Teacher Advisory Board Steering Committee


Recipients for Volunteer of the Year and the Environmental Legacy Award will be announced during the event.  In addition to the awards ceremony, the evening will include a fabulous dinner catered by Proof of the Pudding and unforgettable Blues Brothers-inspired entertainment featuring the talented Anthony Rodriguez, Producing Artistic Director for Lawrenceville’s Aurora Theatre.

“It promises to be a wonderful evening,” said Connie Wiggins, Executive Director for Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful. “We look forward to seeing many of our loyal friends and supporters, as well as a few new faces on January 9. The ECoS Award Dinner is open to anyone who shares a passion and concern for the promotion of sustainable practices and the beautification of this great county that we all share. It’s a terrific opportunity to rub elbows with some of Gwinnett’s movers and shakers, while becoming inspired by the hard work and dedication of our volunteers.”
