All About Developmental Disabilities Honored by Home Depot Foundation

DECATUR, Ga. - Dec. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- On November 19, All About Developmental Disabilities (AADD) was inducted into the Building Community Network Class of 2013 at The Home Depot Foundation and Georgia Center for Nonprofits’ annual Building Community Network Kick-Off Luncheon, held at Piedmont Park. AADD (www.aadd.org) is an Atlanta-based nonprofit organization dedicated to creating lifelong support, education and opportunities for children, adults and families living with developmental disabilities.

Twenty Atlanta-area nonprofit organizations were invited to join this year. Each also received a surprise $20,000 donation from The Home Depot Foundation. AADD board president Lisa Blanco and AADD executive director Kathy Keeley were invited to join the class of 2013.

“It is so exciting to be recognized by The Home Depot Foundation for our work with the developmental disability community,” said Blanco.  “The donation will be a great support for our ongoing efforts.”

“With this $20,000 donation we can help more people with developmental disabilities attend school, receive job training, find and keep jobs, and learn how to speak up for themselves more effectively,” said Keeley.

The complete 2013 Building Community Network Class includes Adaptive Learning Center for Infants and Children, Empty Stocking Fund, All About Developmental Disabilities, Kids & Pros, Angel Flight, Mary Hall Freedom House, Atlanta Beltline Partnership, National MS Society of Georgia, Atlanta Center for Self Sufficiency, Partnership Against Domestic Violence, Atlanta Children’s Shelter, Piedmont Park Conservancy, Atlanta Union Mission, Rainbow Village, Back on My Feet Atlanta, SafeHouse Outreach, Center for Visually Impaired, Truly Living Well, Council on Alcohol and Drugs and the Urban Forest Council.

Founded in 1956,All About Developmental Disabilities (AADD) is an Atlanta-based non-profit organization dedicated to creating lifelong support, education and opportunities for children, adults and families living with developmental disabilities.  AADD provides support services, advocacy and training to families living with developmental disabilities.
