Follow on Google News | Entertainer Revs Up Million-Dollar Fundraising Tour With Motorcycle RalliesSinging motorcyclist enthusiast, who lost it all, works to raise $1 million for charity
By: Scott Helmer Fresh from his summer tour, which consisted of over 100 US cities and shows, Helmer is now offering to lend his time and talents by performing solo-acoustic, free of charge at any charity or fundraising event across America, with the goal of helping all raise $1m within one year. The musician will be accompanied by his trusted motorcycle throughout next year’s tour and is inviting all cycle clubs and dealerships across the US to host fundraising rides along his tour route. Following each ride, Helmer’s aim is to perform at a venue of their choice. “Motorcyclists are the salt of the earth, from all walks of life and always rally behind good causes within their community – which is what my entire tour is all about,” he says A snapshot of Helmer’s previous benefit tour ‘24 Nights – A Look Back’ can be viewed here (http://www.youtube.com/ Previously, Helmer has played benefits for Wounded Warrior Project, Operation Comfort, homeless shelters, anti-violence centers, toy drives, pet charities, victims of the 2012 Colorado wildfire and many deserving individuals, such as Elvis Conaway, a young boy in desperate need of a liver transplant. The singer is also an enthusiastic volunteer for Musicians On Call, a program that brings the healing power of music to hospital patients. Helmer will not handle any money or donations on behalf of charitable organizations during his performances on the ‘Support YOUR Cause Tour’. “I am simply offering to perform at any fundraising event free of charge, to help them raise money and awareness for their cause,” he explains. “Live music always helps bring more people out to an event.” Watch video of Scott Helmer performing live - Opening for Eddie Money @ Fox Tucson Theatre (http://www.youtube.com/ The musician is equally happy to be the headliner or mixed in the line-up with other artists to help out any good cause across the US, no matter how big or small. In advance of each ride and show, Helmer’s team will work to obtain TV and radio performances and print coverage for the artist, furthering promotion for the event. His only requirement is that the charity has a goal to raise at least $5,000 during their event. “In 2008 I made a huge mistake and lost everything. Without the help of my family and a few close friends, I would have been living on the streets,” he explains of his reasons behind the campaign. “So from my own experience, I know just how important a support system can be to help out with even the most basic of human needs; food, shelter and most importantly, hope.” To help offset his touring expenses while performing for free, Helmer will be selling copies of his CD, Wake Me When It’s Over, for $5 at each show. Recorded at the Waterfront Studios of Grammy award-winning producer Henry Hirsch (whose credits include Lenny Kravitz, Madonna and Mick Jagger), this contagious, radio-friendly rock album was written and performed by Helmer and his photographer- “I want to use my passion for music to help those people and organizations that help others, even if it’s only in a small way; like performing and bringing a bit more awareness to their cause at a fundraising event,” he says. “I hope what I am doing inspires others to do the same; to help others by doing what they love.” Interested parties wishing to book Helmer for a solo-acoustic performance at their charity event / motorcycle rally any time between May 1, 2014 and May 1, 2015, should complete the registration form found here http://www.scotthelmer.com/ For further information on Scott Helmer go to his website http://www.scotthelmer.com End
