“Further afield, a Canadian wedding at Christmas is a relaxed affair. We recommend couples get married in the spectacular Rocky Mountains in the west, have a French-style ceremony in Quebec, or get married in a lodge by a frozen lake in the east of the country.

“A nice touch we also often suggest is for the bride to arrive at the ceremony by horse drawn sleigh, kept warm by blankets, with the groom hearing her arrival by the sound of bells on the sleigh,” says Bishop.

“A classic winter wedding choice, New York at Christmas is one of the best times of year to exchange vows. “Or if snow simply isn't your thing, then Argentina can be fantastic for a winter wedding. All the “usual” Christmas decorations and traditions can still be found here - fairy lights, Christmas trees (with cotton wool balls to represent snow), and gifts under the tree. However, as the weather is warm, a picnic or BBQ is more likely on Christmas day. Couples could incorporate some of these festivities into their wedding, and enjoy getting married in a relaxed atmosphere as the sun beats down.
