Follow on Google News | Young CEO Who Lost Mother to Breast Cancer Uses ABC’s ‘Scandal’ to Help Fund ResearchBy: Foolies Foolies® CEO Alex Hanse lost his mother to breast cancer in the early ‘90s and made a personal pledge to never stop fighting for those impacted by the disease. Now that he’s grown a large group of followers – many of them women and “Scandal” fans – he decided to use his influence and the buzz around ABC’s hit series “Scandal” to raise funds for a good cause. During the month of October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month), supporters were asked to donate to the Foolies American Cancer Society fundraiser. All donors were entered into a raffle once for every $5 they donated. The winner, announced October 31, 2013, received a “Scandal” and Foolies® inspired prize pack – the first two seasons of “Scandal” on DVD and three free Foolies® T-shirts from the website, www.thefoolies.com. The fundraiser surpassed the company’s initial fundraising goal of $500 and is only the beginning of a lifelong relationship between Foolies® and the American Cancer Society. Hanse has already started thinking about how to make the fundraiser even more successful next year. “I don’t want to be another face that vanishes,” says Hanse. “Surpassing my goal showed me a few things. If I put my mind to something, I can do it. I will always try to surpass my goals and planning well for next year will mean everything.” Although ready to raise the bar on future fundraising goals, the CEO says he will be happy with anything Foolies® can do to help in the fight against breast cancer. “Future goals may get bigger and whether I surpass them or not, the fact that I took a shot at it will still mean a lot,” says Hanse. “As long as I get something, it is better than [doing] nothing. I just think it's important that I keep fighting the fight against breast cancer and cancer in general. Not only does this honor my mom, but this fights for families everywhere.” To learn more about Foolies® and the company’s future fundraising efforts, please visit www.thefoolies.com or follow the company on Twitter at @fooliesclothing (https://twitter.com/ About Foolies Foolies was founded in 2010 and produces inspirational apparel and paraphernalia to motivate people to pursue their dreams without limits.
