Anne Sharabiani grew up in Tampere City, Finland. She says Finland has a strong impact on its people. “Hard winters and short but absolutely lovely summers shape a person like me very deeply. Finland made me what I am today. I have a sense of snow. Not everybody can say the same. Nowadays I live in London with my husband. I write and live there, but my way of thinking is not British but Finnish.”

The author wrote these poems in Finnish and later translated them into English. She hopes those who have never visited Finland will discover the poetic and mysterious beauty of the country of her origin, which has inspired Finnish poets throughout the centuries.

About the Author: This is Anne Sharabiani’s first published book. She is currently writing two other books, another poetry collection for adults and a fairy tale book for children. “The biggest effort was the translation. Since I could not find any qualified poetry translator, I had to have courage to do it all by myself. Translating poetry is the most difficult thing to do, even for an experienced translator.” She just earned a master’s degree and volunteers as a Christian human rights worker by being an advocate for those who have no voice.
