“We are thrilled to be sponsoring this community blood drive,” said Chevrolet of Homewood owner Steve Phillipos, “and we look forward to a terrific community turnout in support of the Heartland Blood Centers and all of the important work that they do.” The independent not-for-profit Heartland Blood Centers serves 49 hospitals in 12 counties, including Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, LaSalle, Lee, McHenry, Ogle, and Will counties in Illinois, and Lake county in Indiana. Relying entirely upon a volunteer donor system, Heartland Blood Centers has set a goal of collecting more than 200,000 units of blood annually. While the Chevrolet of Homewood Community Blood Drive will take place on Saturday, December 21, Heartland Blood Centers will be giving certificates for two free quarts of ice cream to everyone who donates blood through December 31. People throughout the Homewood area who wish to donate blood can sign up online (http://www.heartlandbc.org/ In addition to holding a Community Blood Drive, Chevrolet of Homewood is also hosting a Holiday Food Drive through December 20.
