Dedicated to providing the community with opportunities to build business and relationships, the NAWBO January workshop will focus on the methods used to create a simple one-page business plan. Failure to prepare a written business plan is a leading reason 80% of all new businesses in the US fail in the first five years. This 1-hour workshop, with featured speaker Jess McLamb, will educate attendees from the questions to ask to get started to developing sales forecasts and break-even analysis. McLamb will also talk about developing your own financial dashboard to track your key financials.
Jess McLamb, president of Roper Bookkeeping, an accounting company based in Raleigh since 1993, specializes in providing bookkeeping services and QuickBooks consulting to small businesses across the country. McLamb also teaches business workshops through the statewide community college small business centers and SCORE and has trained thousands of entrepreneurs to start and grow their business. Prior to forming Roper Bookkeeping, she was a senior officer in the financial services industry for more than 20 years. She was senior vice president in charge of branch services at First Citizens Bank and vice president of home office services for London Pacific Life & Annuity Co. She is a member of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, the Wake County Women Business Owners Network (WBON), and the Greater Raleigh NAWBO.
“Business plans are inherently strategic,” said Lewey. “Many of the techniques described and taught by Jess McLamb are cutting-edge that will increase the understanding and knowledge of the quality and viability of your business’s future.”
