Timberlake Design-Build Wins 2013 Award of Excellence from Maryland Home Builder’s Association

Timberlake Design-Build is pleased to announce they have received the Remodeling Award of Excellence in the $700,000-800,000 Whole House category from the Homebuilder’s Association of Maryland.  The annual award recognizes builders across Maryland who have reached the pinnacle of remodeling craftsmanship and evaluates overall project design, sensitivity to the existing structure, quality of construction, value, cost effectiveness and degree of project difficulty.

This is Timberlake’s fifth statewide Remodeling Award of Excellence in the last five years.

Timberlake received the award for a turnkey renovation of a 1920’s waterfront cinder block and stucco house located on GibsonIsland just north of Annapolis.  With an ultimate goal to increase living space, modernize the entire home and update the look of the house; the homeowners also wanted to maintain the character of the original home.  Entirely new plumbing, electrical and a geothermal HVAC system were installed.  The living room area with its grand oversized fireplace, long leaf southern yellow pine floors, and exquisite beamed ceiling was renovated with new stairs and roof structure added to achieve the necessary insulation value for a modern home while preserving the original beams and tongue and groove ceiling.  The upper level roofs were removed and a full level was added with two generously sized bedrooms, one full bath, and plenty of storage space at each end of the house.

The result of the renovation is a house that stays true to the nature of the original structure but with all the modern features.  The interior is now a striking space with an open feel that is comfortable for everyday living, while, at the same time, providing a generous space for entertaining.
