![]() Please, Bill Gates, Help Us Empower Youth To Overcome Social Media’s Dark SideBy: Selvage Media There is an urgent need for an open and honest conversation with teens, parents and teachers about responsible social media use. In partnership with wellness expert Aja Uranga-Foster, Selvage Media has started an Indiegogo campaign that will run until Christmas. Our plan is to work with a teen focus group for the next few months, learning all we can about what life is really like for them in the social media trenches. We’re then going to use that information to create meaningful and tangible curriculum to share online and in classrooms. We want to launch Above The Fray before school gets out for summer. To be clear, this is not another anti-cyberbullying campaign. This is bigger than bullying. We have to peel back the layers and look at the root causes of social media misuse. We have to understand the ins and outs, and teach our young people how to use these incredibly powerful social media platforms correctly. We don’t want to force-feed potential bullies rhetoric on what not to do. We want to give young people tools to empower them to build healthy, positive relationships online and to overcome the dark sides of social media use. Parents, teachers – all of us – have to do our part. Please support Above The Fray. With your help, we can achieve our goals. Thank you for contributing and sharing.
