Through a unified effort, EDC-VC, VCLA and the county’s film commission will intensify the focus on Ventura County as a film-industry destination. Evans joined VCLA in July and previously served as the president and chief operating officer of the Malibu Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center, and the Moorpark Chamber of Commerce. She spent 13 years as vice president of operations for Bridal Expo, Inc., a tradeshow and event-planning company. VCLA represents 60 members, including hotels, motels, bed & breakfasts, RV Resorts, resort rentals, the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce, Oxnard Convention & Visitors Bureau and Ventura Visitors & Convention Bureau. Since forming two years ago, VCLA has invested heavily in promoting the region and assessing a one percent fee on room nights at member firms, which directly funds efforts towards driving additional room-night stays.
