CAMARILLO, Calif. - Dec. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- CAMARILLO, Calif.—Rebekah Evans, executive director of the Ventura County Lodging Association (http://www.venturacountywest.com/) (VCLA), has joined Economic Development Collaborative-Ventura County (http://www.edc-vc.com/)’s board of  directors as a board liaison. In this position, Evans will help facilitate communication between EDC-VC and lodging firms within Camarillo, Oxnard and Ventura, and help promote filming in Ventura County.

“By sharing our goals with Rebekah and VCLA, we hope to introduce the county as a desirable place to visit and to do business,” said Bruce Stenslie president/CEO of EDC-VC. “Rebekah’s appointment aligns with EDC-VC’s efforts to promote a regional quality of life and highlight the area’s amenities as a competitive advantage for businesses.”

Evan’s appointment follows EDC-VC’s recent designation of Karen Kelley as film liaison for the Ventura County Film Commission. Through a unified effort, EDC-VC, VCLA and the county’s film commission will intensify the focus on Ventura County as a film-industry destination.

Evans joined VCLA in July and previously served as the president and chief operating officer of the Malibu Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center, and the Moorpark Chamber of Commerce. She spent 13 years as vice president of operations for Bridal Expo, Inc., a tradeshow and event-planning company.

VCLA represents 60 members, including hotels, motels, bed & breakfasts, RV Resorts, resort rentals, the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce, Oxnard Convention & Visitors Bureau and Ventura Visitors & Convention Bureau. Since forming two years ago, VCLA has invested heavily in promoting the region and assessing a one percent fee on room nights at member firms, which directly funds efforts towards driving additional room-night stays.

EDC-VC is a private, nonprofit organization that serves as a business-to-government liaison to assist businesses in Ventura County by offering programs that enhance the economic vitality of the region.
