VALENCIA, Calif. - Dec. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- In 1988, Axtell and Bethel Deaconess Hospitals merged to become Newton Medical Center.  Newton Medical Center is located on a 78-acre campus that offers medical clinics, an employee child care center and other amenities.  The 103-bed, not-for-profit facility is dedicated to providing healthcare services to residents of Harvey and surrounding counties in Kansas.   It is staffed with approximately 80 physicians and supported by a skilled team of nurses, administrators and support services.

Recently, Newton Medical Center implemented advanced ultraviolet (UV) technology for improved disinfection of hospital room surfaces.  After evaluating the various products available on the market, Newton Medical Center selected UltraViolet Devices’ (UVDI) V-360+ UV Room Sanitizer.  The V-360+ is a mobile ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) device that is deployed by environmental services staff to disinfect hospital rooms after cleaning.

“After looking at the market for this type of product, we felt that UVDI best met our needs and our budget.  The background of this company, with the technology of UV lights, set them apart from the others for us,” shared Kelly Newsom, BSN, RN, Infection Control Coordinator for Newton Medical Center.

UVDI’s V-360+ UV Room Sanitizer is now an integral part of Newton Medical Center’s ongoing efforts to achieve superior surface disinfection which benefits both patients and healthcare workers. “Newton Medical Center joins a growing list of hospitals across the country who have adopted the V-360+ UV Room Sanitizer based on proven superior disinfection performance that ultimately improves patient outcomes,” said Richard Hayes, President of UVDI.  “The V-360+ generates high intensity UV energy and quickly disinfects surfaces contaminated with viruses, bacteria and fungi, including superbugs such as MRSA and C. difficile.  Its proven performance, ease of use and low total cost of ownership makes it an ideal fit for hospitals looking to provide superior surface disinfection for the benefit of patients and staff.”
