LOS ANGELES - Dec. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- Los Angeles, CA (December 4, 2013). International music superstar Justin Bieber announced via exclusive video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7R58pHv012M%23t=0) that he has launched a campaign on the celebrity charity-fundraising digital platform Prizeo.com today to raise awareness and funds for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan on November 8.

Funds raised will go to UNICEF, Action Against Hunger and Philam Foundation to help those in need in the recently devastated areas of the Philippines.

"When I heard about the massive scale of the Typhoon Haiyan disaster, I wanted to help in any way I could," said Justin Bieber. "One of the best ways I can do that is to bring a major fundraising effort to my fans all around the world—especially via social media. Prizeo will make it easy for them to donate and to share the information with all their friends, hopefully maximizing the funds we can raise for the relief efforts."

Contributors to Bieber’s campaign will be entered into a grand-prize drawing to win a trip for two to Los Angeles in early 2014 to join Bieber in the studio to watch and listen to him record new music. The grand-prize winner will be chosen at random and notified shortly after the campaign closes. For full contest rules, see http://www.prizeo.com/terms-and-conditions.

“We cannot thank Justin enough for stepping forward, and for volunteering to empower his immense international network of fans to get involved as well,” says Action Against Hunger Global Campaigns Director Robert Kelty. “For a campaign of this magnitude and a cause this urgent, we needed a strong, scalable technology platform to handle the level of traffic we expect Justin’s campaign will generate. Activating a massive fan base like Justin's will generate a great deal of awareness around these crucial relief efforts, and Prizeo will make it easy to translate that awareness into action."

Donors of $10 or more are eligible for exclusive rewards, including an exclusive campaign T-shirt, signed lyric sheets, and a pair of VIP tickets to Bieber’s upcoming “Believe” movie premiere. A full list of campaign rewards is available HERE. (http://www.prizeo.com/prizes/justin-bieber/an-exclusive-s...)

Prizes will also be rewarded to “Biggest Sharers” who raise the most funds by recruiting friends and family to donate. When friends donate using the link shared by a friend, both earn an additional entry.

Prizeo enables stars to maximize the benefits of their social-media platforms on behalf of charities. Recent Prizeo campaigns featuring celebrities like Samuel L. Jackson, Kristen Bell, Alicia Keys, Ed Sheeran, and Kobe Bryant have shown the immense power of social media to raise funds and awareness for charitable causes. A campaign featuring One Direction’s Harry Styles and Liam Payne recently raised nearly $800,000 for cancer research and prevention programs. Prizeo’s micro-donation model allows fans to donate for chances to win once-in-a-lifetime experiences with their favorite celebrities whose charities benefit from the online campaigns that run live on the site.

UNICEF has been working in the Philippines since 1947 and is currently responding to the needs of approximately 6 million children that have been affected by Super Typhoon Haiyan. This category-5 typhoon is possibly the strongest storm ever recorded. An estimated 13.2 million people in nine regions have been affected, and 3.5 million people are now displaced from their homes. UNICEF has responded immediately, addressing high priority needs such as providing clean water and sanitation, shelter, nutritious food, medical supplies including vaccinations to stop the spread of disease, and addressing serious child protection concerns in the affected regions.

About ACTION AGAINST HUNGER: Action Against Hunger, a global humanitarian organization committed to ending world hunger, last year alone reached more than seven million people around the world through programs in nutrition, food security, and water, sanitation, and hygiene. Present in the Philippines since 2000, Action Against Hunger has extensive experience responding to natural disasters that affect the country. When Typhoon Haiyan struck, our on-the-ground experts were able to mount an immediate emergency response, providing clean drinking water and survival kits to families who lost everything. So far, we’ve provided critical food, shelter, medical care, clean water and safe sanitation to 650,000 Filipinos in need. In the coming months, we’ll continue to provide immediate relief services while helping people rebuild their lives and strengthen their communities.
