COLUMBUS, Ohio - Dec. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- Local Columbus business Miracle Motor Mart has promoted a new Finance Director from within the company. Formerly a Finance Funding Manager, Jody Sheasby (called "Jk" by friends and colleagues alike) has been with Miracle Motor Mart for three years. Her new position will entail taking responsibility for the entire finance department, training all new F&I employees, overseeing their deals, and continuing her specialization in funding sub-prime customers and people with difficult credit histories.

Sheasby has worked in the finance and insurance field of the auto industry for a total of eight years, and brings a wealth of myriad capabilities to her new position. Her previous professional experience includes four years as a licensed Private Investigator in the state of Ohio, booking rock bands for Dynamic Entertainment, working over the years as a real estate agent, a dental assistant, an allergist's assistant, and a merchandizing consultant for Revlon. With her bright red hair, cheerful smile, and knack for flamboyance in even the drabbest business settings, Sheasby's easy way with people of all kinds has been an asset to her in all lines of work.

"My favorite part of this job is the joy that comes from helping people," she said when interviewed in her busy office, where questions were frequently interrupted by phone calls and salespeople. "We get people in here sometimes who really can't get loans elsewhere. They're sub-prime, or sub-sub-prime, and it's not just that they can't get a loan, but people don't even treat them with respect. And that's not something that happens here. I've had people hug me when we get them in a car, I've had people cry. That's the best part of this job, I think. When I can help someone, and they're grateful.

"You know, when I was new here, maybe a month in, the owner called me back to his office. I was working at the East Main Street location, which they'd just bought. He was real gruff about it. And I'd been in the car business for a while, I know that some people just don't last long. I thought I was about to be fired, or at the very least chewed out. Instead, he told me that they were pleased with my performance—very pleased—and that I was wasted at this new store, where traffic was very slow. So he told me to pack my stuff up in a box, and that they were moving me to our flagship store on Morse Road. I didn't tell anyone why I was leaving, just packed my things and moved out. Of course, everyone thought I'd been fired. The owner didn't even warn the manager at the other location, I just walked in and told them I was there to stay. So that sort of thing is fun. You have to have a good sense of humor to work in the car business. I'm actually back at East Main Street now, just because it's bigger and I can have an office to myself." She'll soon be heading back to the Morse Road location, however, as soon as construction is completed on the new building.

Miracle Motor Mart has built its success on the work of employees like Sheasby, and, thanks in part to their diligence, this family-owned, independent dealership beat out hundreds of other used car dealers to win the National Independent Quality Dealer Award in 2012. Miracle Motor Mart doesn't just boast Jk Sheasby at the East Main Street location, but also a twenty-bay service garage and parts department, with a trained staff capable of servicing over 700 cars a month. Their ASE-Certified technicians inspect and repair every vehicle that comes through Miracle Motor Mart's doors, and also perform out-of-state motor vehicle inspections, oil changes, brake inspections, general maintenance, and other services for previous and current customers.

A short, vibrant women who wears platform high heels to work every morning, Sheasby doesn't just make an impression on her fellow professionals, but on clients as well. In the past, she's impressed customers so thoroughly with her ability to secure them a loan that they've followed her back and forth between the Morse Road and East Main Street locations of Miracle Motor Mart. One couple became so devoted to her that when Sheasby broke her foot in 2011 and had to be driven back and forth between work and her home, they volunteered to drive her.

"I think what really prepared me for this job," said Sheasby, "was my work at a mortgage broker just before I entered the car industry. I talked my way in the door there with no experience, and they started me without any kind of training. Just sat me behind a computer and told me to get to work. I was the only woman in the building, and clients were assigned based on seniority. So all these guys who'd been in the business forever were getting the loan applicants with credit scores of 700 and over, easy as can be. They'd just get the paperwork signed and send it out. Meanwhile, I was scrambling with sub-prime customers, trying to teach myself what to do, and I had to learn if I wanted to make a living. I got pretty good at it, and then the mortgage crisis hit. The good-credit customers disappeared, and we were dealing with nothing but sub-prime loans. All those good old boys were suddenly coming to me for advice, because I'd had to learn how to do all the difficult stuff. We had a good laugh about the role reversal, and I'd tease them that I would only parcel out my knowledge in exchange for lunch."

Miracle Motor Mart specializes in late model, low mileage cars, although co-owners Mike D'Andrea and Mark Meadows, both frequent visitors of local auctions Columbus Fair Auto Auction and Manheim Ohio, also like to bring in the occasional one-of-a-kind automobile. The company is currently renovating their Morse Road location to offer a bigger, cleaner, and friendlier facility. The dealership rolls out the welcome mat for people of every kind, regardless of their credit histories, and with people like Jk Sheasby in the company, customers can rest assured that they're getting a good deal.
