Dec. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- United Infrared, Inc. confirmed today that Michael Vollmer and Klaus-Peter Moellmann, Level II thermographers & book authors from Germany, will be performing their brand of physics magic at the Thermal Imaging Conference 2014, set at the popular Treasure Island Resort, June 2-5, 2013.

Thermography's premier event, the Thermal Imaging Conference 2014 is set for the family-friendly Treasure Island Resort, June 2-5 on the Las Vegas Strip. United Infrared is the host and major sponsor.

And, with the Conference being held in Las Vegas, Nevada, 'the entertainment capital of the world', it's the perfect venue for the two physics professors to display a science demonstration that explains and showcases thermal imaging, while entertaining an audience. And...the doctors are crowd favorites, and promise to be one of the highlights of the Thermal Imaging Conference 2014.

Thermographer Michael Vollmer studied physics in Heidelberg, Germany, receiving a PhD (1986) and Habilitation (1991) in optical spectroscopy of metal clusters. Since 1994 he has been a professor of physics at the University of Applied Sciences in Brandenburg/Germany, working in the fields of infrared thermal imaging, spectroscopy, atmospheric optics, and didactics of physics. He is a Level II Thermographer and coauthor of the well known textbook “Infrared Thermal Imaging – Fundamentals, Research and Applications”, published in 2010 by Wiley. Together with his colleague K.-P. Möllmann he occasionally also presents physics on stage in public experimental shows around Christmas time.

Klaus-Peter Moellmann began studying physics at Halle and Berlin, receiving his PhD in 1983 and Habilitation (1989) in solid state physics, in particular in the development of HgCdTe infrared detectors. Since 1994 he has been a professor of physics at the University of Applied Sciences, in Brandenburg, Germany. He has worked in infrared thermal imaging, pyrometry, thin film and MEMS technology and is a Level II Thermographer.

The Thermal Imaging Conference is a worldwide gathering of thermographers, and is sponsored and hosted by United Infrared, the largest network of certified and properly trained thermal imagers in the world. It is set to kick off on June 2nd, at an invitation-only reception for all attendees at Senor Frog'sRestaurant and Cantina, right there at Treasure Island. The entire floor of the restaurant has been booked for the event. The Conference promises, once again, to be the event that nobody in the infrared industry misses, and will doubtlessly offer huge opportunities for networking and building friendships. A sold-out event is anticipated. A spokesman for the industry trend setter, United Infrared, stated, Room rates are exceptionally low, at $69.00 per night, and the event is held at the four star Treasure Island resort. United Infrared figures that absolutely anybody interested in thermography will be able to attend. This promises to be the infrared industry's premier event of the year, just as it was at Thermal Imaging Conference 2013 in San Diego.

National and international networking is a huge boon to thermographers who provide infrared services around the world. The fields of expertise of the thermographers in the United Infrared Network include several areas in the building sciences: electric, such as switch gear and panels, data centers, roofing, block walls, moisture intrusion into buildings, energy (building efficiency).

United Infrared boasts the largest network of certified and properly-trained thermographers anywhere in the world. While UI provides training, and also sells infrared camera equipment, it also has the ability to provide thermographic services, nationwide (United States & Canada, at present), through United Infrared Services, which will also sponsor the event.

Remarkably, United Infrared also has technicians skilled in equine thermography. In fact, the life science applications of thermal imaging show huge upward potential, as infrared cameras can often detect anomalies in living tissue, and those areas are also prominently featured at the Thermal Imaging Conference. As such, the uses of infrared thermal imaging in the life sciences will be included again.

The Thermal Imaging Conference effectively kicks off the Las Vegas summer conference and convention season, and follows on the heels of United Infrared's just-completed TIC 2013, San Diego.

Information on the Conference is available by phone, at 888-722-6447, or online at (http://www.thermalimagingconference.com)

A number of airlines are expected to offer excellent service and fares into Las Vegas' McCarran International Airport. UI’s Preferred Airline Agency: Corporate Traveler, has airline details @ 858-500-4699

A much-anticipated part of the Conference will be the 2014 IMMY Awards. This is a fun, laid-back feature of the Conference, which is the submission of images in competition for the United Infrared Awards, and is nicknamed 'the IMMY'. The IMMY is the name for the award for what is referred to as a "United Infrared Image". The United Infrared Image Award is one that best exemplifies an infrared image: one that tells a story, has a great title, and has great technical merit.

Any thermographer around the world can submit an image for the IMMY competition simply by emailing that image, once the competition is open. Currently, the IMMY submissions can be viewed on United Infrared's Flickr page at Flickr.com.

Infraspection Institute, Inc., which provides Level I, Level II and Level III training for  United Infrared members, along with other thermographers from around the world, confirmed they would again be a sponsor for the Thermal Imaging Conference 2014 in Las Vegas, It quickly became one of the favorites of all the Conference 2013 attendees.

Besides displaying its services, Infraspection staff participated in several events and taught a number of classes. James Seffrin, President of Infraspection, was not only a featured speaker, but was honored for his part in developing the infrared thermal imaging industry.

The Thermal Imaging Conference 2014 will be sponsored by camera manufacturers, along with ancillary products and services. The complete lineup of 2014 sponsors will be announced soon.
