Follow on Google News | New HU Scholarships Reward Good Grades in High School: A 3.8 GPA Qualifies for $20,000 ScholarshipWhile other universities require students to jump through hoops for scholarships, Harrisburg University is awarding scholarship money to incoming students who earned good grades in high school.
These are tuition scholarships awarded on the basis of good grade point averages (GPAs) in high school -- $20,000 for a 3.8 or better GPA, $10,000 for a 3.3 – 3.7 GPA, $8,000 for a 3.0 – 3.2 GPA, and $6,000 for a 2.7 -2.9 GPA. It’s a straightforward way of awarding scholarships. Simply put, full-time undergraduate students accepted to HU can look at their grade point average and know the scholarship amount they qualify for at Harrisburg University. The goal of the scholarships is simple: provide a high-quality, affordable education to students from diverse backgrounds and communities. “We’re providing these scholarships because we believe that the promising high school students of today are ready to become the high-achieving college students of tomorrow,” says Dr. Eric Darr, University President. The University also wants to attract students from the local community and beyond, so graduates from any Dauphin County school district, Harrisburg School District, or Philadelphia School District may quality for a full-tuition scholarship. Additional, scholarships are available for PA state employees, and need-based grants are available for all students. Recent graduates of Harrisburg Area Community College can qualify for full tuition scholarships. Other transfer students can earn $10,000 scholarships. Scholarships and grants are free money, and HU wants to make sure that every interested student can get a high-quality science or technology education while easing the financial burdens on their families.
