Angel Violet’s Magic Wings Helps Children Sweep Away Negative Emotions

PALM HARBOR, Fla. - Dec. 3, 2013 - PRLog -- Life Coach Bonnie Snyder has published a combination children’s book and parent guidebook designed to help children manage the feelings they have during the day.  Just in time for the holidays, Angel Violet makes her debut in the Kindle and iBook stores. Angel Violet’s Magic Wings includes a story about Angel Violet, whose wings help children sweep away the negative emotions that can overwhelm them, and Parents Notes, which provide questions and suggestions that facilitate a conversation between parent and child.


Snyder wrote the book originally for her granddaughter, who was entering nursery school. “I thought about how our children are growing up in world that is scary,” she said. “I wanted to create a safe place where children and their caregivers learn quickly to tap into their self-healing abilities in order to focus on life balance and to move forward after upsetting events or day-to-day challenges.”

Snyder begins the story talking about angels:

“And everyone has angels that are always around them.

You can’t always see them but your heart knows they are there.”

The character Angel Violet was inspired by the concept of a violet flame, an ancient ritual used for eons to cleanse and purify. Drawn by illustrator Alissa Shouts as a small, purple angel with large wings, Angel Violet can be called upon by children to sweep away the negative emotions of the day. Snyder tells children we all start out with a happy heart, and she describes our gifts and strengths as sparkles. “When we feel good, we sparkle from the inside out, all over from head to toe. But throughout the day, our sparkles get covered and dusty—from an encounter with an unhappy adult, a mean child, the child’s own mood, or exhaustion from playing. Angel Violet will use her magic wings to sweep away the dust, letting us sparkle brightly again.”:

“Angel Violet will start at the top of your head and fly all around you. Close your eyes and take a deep breath as she flies around in circles, sweeping away the dust with her magic wings.”

Snyder begins the book with an introduction to parents, describing how to use the story as a starting point for a conversation and pointing out that reading Angel Violet with children can help children talk about both positive and challenging situations and learn to create a self-calming process. Throughout the book, Parents Notes suggest activities and topics of conversation, such as helping a child to list strengths or to describe good feelings and yucky feelings.

Angel Violet is designed primarily to be used by parents with their children as a communication tool. However, children over the age of 6 may want to read the story on their own.
