Madison Who’s Who Recognizes Rex Chin Wei Yung, M.D., FCCP

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Dec. 3, 2013 - PRLog -- A basic definition of Pulmonology is the discipline of medicine that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the lungs such as asthma, COPD, and bronchiectasis.  A Pulmonologist’s training can also be applied to lung cancer as they can evaluate lung function prior to surgery, or to treat lung symptoms you may have as a result of lung cancer surgery. Dr. Rex Chin Wei Yung is the Director of Pulmonary Oncology, Director of Bronchoscopy, and Assistant Professor of Medicine and Oncology at John Hopkins University and their Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Yung promotes a multidisciplinary approach in addressing lung cancer patients. His goal is to further a smooth relationship of cooperation with surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, and pulmonologists.  Dr. Yung sees the pulmonologist’s role coming in when dealing with imaging such as CT scans and PET scans and having a role that broadens with the developments in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging. Overall, he sees this working together of doctors with the common purpose of benefiting the welfare of the patient.

When Rex Chin Wei Yung decided to follow a medical career he chose to matriculate at Harvard University as an undergraduate and earn his Bachelor of Science in Biology. His Medical Degree was obtained at the University of California, Los Angeles. His expertise is entrenched in pulmonary oncology, bronchoscopy, critical care medicine, and general internal medicine. Dr. Yung’s research centers on pulmonary oncology and its therapeutic strategies and new bronchoscopic instrumentation. In 2010, he was part of the Johns Hopkins Research Team that identified a possible protein trigger responsible for sarcoidosis, a potentially fatal inflammatory disease. Dr. Rex Yung is a member of American Thoracic Society and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC).
