The Original San Clemente, CA Municipal Building Opens Again To The Public For A Christmas Boutique

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. - Nov. 30, 2013 - PRLog -- San Clemente, CA – November 29, 2013 – Built in 1928, the first San Clemente municipal building, which housed the police, fire department, and, for a short time, the Mayor, will host a Christmas Boutique on Saturday, December 14, 2013, from 9 AM to 3 PM.  The public is invited.  Admission is free. Now privately owned and called the San Clemente Event Center, the original municipal building has been closed to the public for the past two years.

The annual Christmas Boutique was formed to allow vendors and local area churches to say “Merry Christmas” rather than “happy holidays.” It promises a display of creative items from vendors and crafts people. Discover that hard-to-find gift for the person that is impossible to buy for.  Unique items mean the one-of-a-kind things that only creative and gifted craft people can provide. More items for the Christmas season are featured in the plaza shops.

The event promises good family fun including Santa.  The San Clemente Event Center features the original 1928 jail cells.  Could Santa end up in jail?  Will he need the help of the kids to make it to Christmas this year?

“When the building housed a restaurant, people could wait for hours to eat in the original jail cells,” stated Santa.  “Ho-ho! I am depending on the kids to keep some naughty person from trying to lock me up when I visit the Christmas Boutique!” (He winks.)

Local-area San Clemente churches will also be there to say hello and “Merry Christmas.”  Be invited and welcomed to join them in this year’s celebration.  The event also features music that will bring the cheer of the season into focus.

ABOUT OLD TOWN SQUARE IN SAN CLEMENTE

Old Town Square, located at 111 West Avenida Palizada in San Clemente, features the San Clemente Event Center, the first historic city building and the site of the original Police Department and jails, the Fire Department, and, for a time, the City Hall and Mayor’s Office.  The location has easy access from the I-5 Avenida Palizada exit.

Old Town Square will, during 2014, host events, including the OC Health Expo on January 11, musical entertainment and concerts, Oktoberfest, parties and receptions, a New Year’s Eve 2014 party, and business workshops that illuminate, inform, and enlighten their target audiences.

The Square is also involved in activities that commemorate the San Clemente community and preserve both the past and present for tomorrow.  Upcoming Old Town Square commemorations will include remembering and celebrating successful residents and a providing a time capsule to be opened by San Clemente’s residents in the future.
