BLINDSTART’s 2nd Comedy for a Cause Fundraiser

Inspirational Organization Raising Funds For Visually Impaired Community

CERRITOS, Calif. - Nov. 29, 2013 - PRLog -- On Sunday Dec. 15, Blind Start of America, also known as BLINDSTART, will be hosting their second Comedy for a Cause Fundraiser at the Brea Improv.

The comedy night will raise funds so the Cerritos based non-profit can continue its mission of helping blind and visually impaired people develop job skills and empower them to lead independent lives.

“Laughter is one of the best ways to lift spirits and can be enjoyed by all,” said Brian Tom, president and founder of Blind Start of America. “This event is a way to bring people together and help this inspirational organization.”

The money raised from Comedy for a Cause will help fund educational services and scholarships for blind or visually impaired members of BLINDSTART. The non-profit provides these services as a way of “bridging the gap” between the blind and visually impaired to those who are not.

Last year, BLINDSTART held a successful night of laughs and raised approximately $300 to benefit their organization. They hope to raise more with the event this year.

“The last Comedy for a Cause event was a great success and we hope this year’s will allow us to continue raising awareness that visually impaired people are capable of overcoming everyday obstacles as well as funding educational scholarships,” said Brian Tom.

This year’s fundraiser will feature Owen Benjamin from the TBS show Sullivan & Son. The cost of the Comedy for a Cause Fundraiser is $15 a ticket, participants must be 18 years or older to attend the event. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the show starts at 7:00 p.m. with a two item minimum at the event.

To purchase tickets for the Comedy for a Cause Fundraiser, visit their website at www.BLINDSTART.org or contact the BLINDSTART office at (562) 282-0123. Those interested in attending the event should purchase tickets as soon as possible since seating is limited.

During the 2013-2014 year, BLINDSTART will also be spreading awareness by participating in upcoming events like, the Spartan Race in Malibu, ASICS LA Marathon, the Blind Mud Run in Irvine and the Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival.
