Elizabeth Mestnik Acting Studio Graduate Jose Roldan Jr. Wins HOLA award

The Elizabeth Mestnik Acting Studio is proud to congratulate Jose Roldan Jr. for winning a HOLA award on his latest New York performance for "Father Forgive Me For I Have Sinned"

LOS ANGELES - Nov. 28, 2013 - PRLog -- The Elizabeth Mestnik Acting Studio (EMASLA) congratulates Jose Roldan Jr. for winning a coveted 2013 HOLA award from New York City's Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors. Jose is a 2009 graduatte of EMASLA’s prestigious 2-Year Meisner Training Program.

Already an accomplished actor and playwright of his one-man show, Father Forgive Me For I Have Sinned, Jose moved to Los Angeles to hone his craft with Elizabeth at EMASLA. “Elizabeth and her team of coaches are dedicated to the Meisner Technique. They breathe the technique and make sure that by the time you leave, you’re breathing it too. I walked through those doors with the basic knowledge that most acting students have, I wasn’t confident at all in who I was or the talent that I possessed. But Elizabeth saw it and forced me to see it too. I completed the program with the knowledge and skills to take my career to the next level.” Since then, he has performed with Christina Applegate, Melissa McCarthy, Christian Slater, and other top talent. Living once again in New York City but with his abilities indelibly sharpened, Jose has begun producing his own work as well as starring in it. Currently, he is working on the short film Infected.

Other accomplished actors who have studied in EMASLA's two-year Meisner Technique program include Charles Michael Davis of Grey’s Anatomy and The Originals, Johnny Wactor of NBC’s Siberia and Sharif Atkins from White Collar and ER. Elizabeth’s program was recently selected as one of Los Angeles’ top 5 places to study acting by CBS.

The Elizabeth Mestnik Acting Studio has a 2-Year Meisner Training program based on Elizabeth’s MFA training with William Esper and Maggie Flanigan at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. “It really teaches you to listen – to be responsive to both your acting partners, or in my case with my one man show – the audience,” says Jose

EMASLA also offers 12-week beginner workshops, Advance Scene Study as well as Voice and Movement workshops for the actor. There is something for any actor at any stage of their training.

Meisner has become the technique of choice in L.A. due to its ability to make actors completely truthful in any imaginary circumstance. It expands the actor’s emotional range and imagination while really honing their own unique point of view and their sense of truth. It’s also quite rigorous, “so when a casting director sees an actor who has completed our program, they know they are serious and well trained,” says Elizabeth. Jose isn't the only actor to relocate to Los Angeles in order to study at The Elizabeth Mestnik Acting Studio. Elizabeth explains, “We have students who have come from all over the U.S., Canada, and as far as Brazil and Hong Kong to train with us.” From Jose's perspective, "I feel very fortunately to have trained with Elizabeth, she was instrumental in making me the actor I am today".

Congratulations again to Jose for winning the HOLA!
