School leaders from across the UK will gather in London this week for the EdisonLearning Network Learning Conference on “‘Collaborative Autonomy; the Courage to Shape the Future’ at Church House, Westminster, London on November 28.

For the last 10 years, school improvement specialist EdisonLearning has worked in partnership with schools and colleges, supporting them in their drive towards continuous improvement and helping them to achieve their goals.  Research suggests that sustainable school improvement comes from support and challenge from other schools and partners so collaborative autonomy – schools working together with common aims but retaining a sense of autonomy and uniqueness – has long been at the heart of the company’s work.

Now, in its 10th anniversary year, staff from EdisonLearning and leaders of their partner schools will share their experiences in a series of presentations. The conference welcomes for the first time schools from Northampton and Somerset belonging to The Collaborative Academies Trust. The Trust is a DfE approved Academy sponsor and a ‘not for profit’ organisation enjoying the support of EdisonLearning.

Speakers include Chris Holmwood from Shenley Brook End School in Milton Keynes,  ‘Lifting the Lid on collaborative autonomy’, and  Laurence Pitt, from the Ashley Down School Federation, ‘Being Brilliant in our schools’. Gail Larkin from the National Association of Head Teachers will speak on ‘Trust me, I’m a professional’.

Experts from Edison Learning will also run sessions, including Lee Phillips and Ian Rawstorne on ‘Realising the vision for your schools’ and Allan Sigston and Eileen Field on ‘Collaborative autonomy: it’s for learners too’.

“This conference provides us with a valuable opportunity to bring together the schools and organisations that form the EdisonLearning family,” said managing director Tim Nash.

“Our job at EdisonLearning is to keep thinking about how schools can get better and to develop the tools and resources that schools need so that they can turn their ambitions into reality. Our network learning conference is part of that effort and we are confident that it will be a great day for all concerned.”
