UK’s newest dating website for Sikhs and Hindus aims to help it's users find love

Nov. 26, 2013 - PRLog -- A new specialist online dating website to help Sikhs and Hindus find their perfect partner has been launched by two young entrepreneurs after they discovered a significant gap in the online dating market.  Indian Connect aims to address the problems which many Indian people have found when using traditional dating sites and act as an online matchmaker for the Sikh and Hindu communities.

Indian Connect (www.indian-connect.co.uk) was launched in December last year and already has over 10,000 members across the country and is still growing, with more and more people joining each day. The site is unique in that it is the only dating website in the UK to cater specifically to Sikhs and Hindus, the two biggest Indian religious groups in the country.

Indian Connect has some special features that have not yet been seen on other Indian dating sites, such as a diary feature that allows you to not only create your own online diary but to search through other diary entries of other users, a video profile feature that adds an extra dimension to your profile and an astrology section that digs deep on peoples traits. All of these special options offer people an exciting opportunity to really get to know the person they are speaking to in a lot more detail online, before walking off together into that real-world sunset.

Ambitious entrepreneur and business graduate Sharn Khaira, 27, set up the site with her long-time friend Charlotte Hancock, 26, after failing to find an Indian man that would satisfy both her and her family’s needs and after becoming increasingly disillusioned with the very limited range of Sikh and Hindu dating sites, she decided to create a website which would meet the needs of the Asian community.

On speaking about setting up the dating website, Sharn Khaira said: “The place I live in the UK actually has a really large and vibrant Indian community, which would make you think that it would be easy to find a partner, but it’s so much tougher than you think. I am Sikh and have been looking for my ideal Sikh man both in the real and virtual world for many years now, but with no luck so far. As a young, independent woman, I guess I am quite picky but was just not really finding the kinds of men that I would want to marry on other Sikh dating sites and this was when I realised there was a huge gap in the market and has driven me to set up Indian Connect.

“The issue these days is that historically Sikh and Hindu families would introduce their sons or daughters to other local Sikhs and Hindus, but in today’s modern Britain world, families just don’t want to get involved as there is too much at risk as divorce rates have risen considerably and the issue divorce isn’t seen as a taboo as it was 20 years ago. Arranged marriages have also just become a thing of the past and no modern Indian man or woman really wants this. Young Sikhs and Hindus out there really struggle today because they are modern in their outlook and feel that they can afford to be choosy but they are also still very traditional at heart, which is bit of an internal conflict. This means finding a partner who not only they really like but that their parents approve of and so there are a lot of hurdles to overcome. I’m hoping Indian Connect will start to bring about an end to that for Sikhs and Hindus in the UK and will help people truly find real love.”
