A Holiday Favorite Gets A New Aerial Dance Twist

Frequent Flyers Student Company presents “Scrooge’s Holiday Flight”

BOULDER, Colo. - Nov. 26, 2013 - PRLog -- BOULDER, CO – Frequent Flyers® Aerial Dance takes Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" and turns it upside down – literally! Using low-flying trapeze, stilts, hoops, aerial chains, fabric and much more Scrooge will soar at The Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder, CO December 6th – 8th. There will be Friday and Saturday performances at 7:30pm and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2pm. For more information or tickets please contact the Dairy Center box office at 303.444.7328 or online at http://www.thedairy.org

The show and student company director Danielle Garrison says, “I am incredibly excited about Scrooge's Holiday Flight because the message Charles Dickens tried to convey is still so pertinent to today's world.  I think it can still deeply inspire the dancers involved, as well as the audience, to act more kindly and with a bit more compassion to those around them.  It's really all about recognizing and appreciating those around you, and it is as simple as that."

"Scrooge's Holiday Flight" is brought to life by Frequent Flyers’ student company, over forty dancers ranging from ages 8 to 38. In the show audiences will meet Tiny Tina (their version of Tiny Tim) played by 11 year-old Zofia, who uses crutches that magically turn into stilts halfway through the show. Patrons will also see teenage aerialists greedily spinning on coin-like aerial hoops, youth flyers soaring on trapezes, and adult dancers partnering each other in aerial fabric pods.

“This well known story turned aerial show features many of our youth,” comments Annie Piatt, a Frequent Flyer Professional company member and the Ghost of Christmas Past, “When I was a young girl, I appeared alongside my dad and sister in a stage version of A Christmas Carol. Sharing the stage now with our student company is quite nostalgic for me as it brings back lots of sweet memories of my earliest ensemble performances as well as time with friends and family during the holidays. I hope the audience experiences a sense of wonder and belonging during this piece.”

Audiences will join Scrooge as three Holiday Ghosts visit him from the past, present, and future.  They will discovers along with Scrooge how the desire for love, harmony and compassion can overcome greed and take one to new heights. Come soar into the holidays with Frequent Flyers® as we all discover the power of love, dance, and community!

One youth company member, Amaya, declares, “This show feels like we've gotten really far, like further than any other show. And it's really really fun!"
