Lucas McWilliams has already shared his love for writing with several hundred Garrard County students. The Wielders Series, which has benefited from great reviews and testimonials, has five books already published, and several more to come. The series focuses on five friends and their journey through the new world. With magical creatures inhabiting the world, known as Phasers, the friends stick together through everything that happens. Adventures happening daily, the five friends are always on a mission to solve something, go somewhere or simply explore their new surroundings. Sophia McWilliams earned a Regional Scholastic Writing Gold Key award for her writing. The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the country's longest-running and most prestigious award and recognition program for creative teenagers, announced the winners of its 2013 regional competitions. Scholastic Southeast Writing Region is made up of the most talented and ambitious students in grades 7-12, representing Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
