Trish Summerville, Costumer Designer for the Hunger Games movie, personally chose Pino’s rings for the Flickerman character after being introduced to the designer by Lilian Raji. Pino’s avant garde approach to sculptural jewelry design perfectly blended into the surreal, high fashion world of Hunger Games’ Capitol.
“I worked with Lilian Raji last year for an exhibition at the prestigious Aaron Faber Gallery”, said Claudio Pino. “She knew my work very well and asked if she could present me to the costume designer. She believed they would like my rings and she was right! I am very grateful to Lilian, Trish Summerville, Cristina Araujo, and the entire Hunger Games costume design team for allowing my work to be part of this movie.”
Pino’s own personal star continues to rise, having enchanted collectors during Aaron Faber Gallery’s “Jewelry Artists of Quebec” exhibition in 2012, which earned him a position in this year’s “Out of this World!: Jewelry in the Space Age” exhibition at Forbes Galleries. His book, Pino: The Power of Rings, sold out immediately on its first release and will have a second release on December 15, 2013.
For over 15 years, Claudio Pino has been dedicated exclusively to jewelry design, particularly one-of-a-kind rings. Best described as a jewelry sculpturist, his collections attest to the grandest possibilities in jewelry making as he unifies kinetic movement with colors, metals and stones to
audaciously redefine traditional concepts of how rings should look. His work is recognized by the fascinating and innovative ways in which he transforms raw materials into unique and extraordinary works of art.
Pino’s collections have been shown throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia in exhibitions, biennales, and trade shows. Pino is a recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the special prize of the Cheongju International Craft Biennale and the 2009 Steele Trophy - Best Design in the Show, Metal Arts Guild of Canada. Collectors can request his work through Aaron Faber Gallery.
