Nicaragua presents investment and trade opportunities in Hamburg

Nicaragua presented its business opportunities in the “Investment and Trade Opportunities in Nicaragua” forum that took place on November 22nd in Hamburg.
 
MANAGUA, Nicaragua - Nov. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- Nicaragua presented its business opportunities in the “Investment and Trade Opportunities in Nicaragua” forum that took place on November 22nd in Hamburg, an event organized by PRONicaragua with the support of Nicaragua’s embassy in Germany, the Industry and Trade Chamber of Hamburg, and the Hamburg Business Association for Latin America (LAV, for its acronym in German).

The purpose of the forum was to generate interest on behalf of German companies to explore business opportunities in Nicaragua, within the framework of the recently approved Association Agreement between Central America and the European Union. Approximately 80 German businessmen interested in learning about Nicaragua’s business opportunities participated in the activity.

The Nicaraguan public sector delegation for this event included General Álvaro Baltodano, Presidential Delegate for Investments; Paul Oquist, Private Secretary for National Policies; Orlando Solórzano, Minister of Development, Industry and Trade; and Emilio Rappaccioli, Minister of Energy and Mines. The private sector representatives were led by Enrique Zamora, Vice-president of the Superior Council of the Private Enterprise (COSEP, for its acronym in Spanish), who discussed the public-private sector alliance in Nicaragua.

The forum was inaugurated by Karla Beteta, Chargé d’affaires a.i. of Nicaragua’s embassy in Germany; Corinna Nienstedt, General Manager and International Business Director of the Industry and Trade Chamber of Hamburg; and Dr. Ottmar Gast, Spokesman for the General Management of the Hamburg Steamship South American Society and member of the LAV Board of Directors.

Subsequently, General Baltodano presented an overall country overview, highlighting its investment and trade competitive advantages Nicaragua offers. The event concluded with Hauke Will, Director of Ritter Sport’s Agro-industrial Production, and Stefan Bude, Chief Finance Officer of Dräxlmaier Group, who shared their successful investment experiences in Nicaragua.

The conference program covered topics such as Nicaragua’s economic performance in recent years, the government and private sector alliance, Nicaragua’s Grand Canal project, the opportunities provided by the Association Agreement between Central America and the European Union, Nicaragua’s energy sector transformation, and the strategies implemented to strengthen the country’s security.
