Austen's Dead, Salacious Crumb & Other New England Metal Bands Team to Benefit Cancer Research

From the mean streets of Quincy, hardcore metal and punk bands Austen's Dead, Salacious Crumb, Mock the Earthquake and Swarm of Eyes band together for a one-night-only show at Presidents Rock Club to benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

QUINCY, Mass. - Nov. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- On Saturday November 30th, four of New England's heaviest punk, hardcore, thrash, and doom metal bands will hit the stage of Quincy’s Presidents Rock Club (1546 rear Hancock Street) to raise funds for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The show brings together a diverse array of bands headlined by a reunited Austen's Dead with special guests Salacious Crumb, Mock the Earthquake, and Swarm of Eyes.

Swarm of Eyes vocalist Randy Carter stated that, "Swarm of Eyes is proud to have been added to such an amazing show, and all for a great cause. All proceeds from the show will be donated to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. A very good friend of all the bands playing has been battling breast cancer for the past few years, so it is something that hits home with everyone on the bill, and why we asked to be added to the lineup. For those who aren't familiar with Austen's Dead, it's only a cause like this that could get them to rise from the ashes and resurrect for their first show in 18 years. This will be a once in a lifetime spectacle, you can count on it."

The November 30th show at the Presidents Rock Club promises to be an entertaining show that will benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Founded in 1947, Dana-Farber has been a leader in the care and treatment of cancer patients, as well as adult and pediatric cancer research. Located in Boston, Dana-Farber is affiliated with the Harvard Medical School and is part of a National Cancer Institute comprehensive care center.

Austen's Dead, Salacious Crumb, Mock the Earthquake, and Swarm of Eyes stand united for metal and the fight against cancer. On the surface, it would seem that these four bands have little in common besides a penchant for loud music and black t-shirts. In reality, the bands share a common history -- and quite a few members -- having toiled on the New England metal scene together in previous incarnations. Despite hailing from different spheres of the rock spectrum, these four bands possess a solid sense of self-deprecating humor, devastatingly handsome members, and a philanthropic side devoted to helping the community and a worthy cause.

From the mean streets of Quincy, hardcore band Austen's Dead make their triumphant return to the stage, reuniting the lineup from their “Legend of the Swedish Nanny’s Torso” era. The long-time New England-area favorites plan to play older material that still stands the test of time and is sure to delight (or repulse) fans both old and new, including “Legs Like Wings.”

Thrash / doom metal band, Swarm of Eyes, will play selections from their debut album, "Designing the Dystopia," and possibly test out some new material planned for a future release. Comprised of former members of the disbanded Motokops 2000, Swarm of Eyes will join Austen’s Dead onstage for their live performance of “Legs Like Wings,” a song covered on MK2K’s final album.

Absent from the Bay State rock scene for some time, metal band Mock the Earthquake will be performing with new drummer, Tommy Lorusso, in tow. The band has been working on new music slated for a 2014 release. Previously, members of Mock the Earthquake were part of a band that featured Austen’s Dead bassist, Roach.

Boston scene favorites, punk group Salacious Crumb, will also take the stage. Dubbed "the Least Hardest Working Band in All of Show Business," Salacious Crumb plans to open the show, then kick back and enjoy the rest of the bands on the bill that evening.

Tickets for the event may be purchased for $8 or at the door on the night of the event. Showtime is 8 P.M. Don’t miss your opportunity to experience some of the area's most entertaining punk, thrash, and metal bands together under one roof and to help out a great cause in the process.
