Uncover the inspiration for Frozen in magical Røros with Sunvil Discovery

Nov. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- Disney’s family blockbuster movie Frozen hits the big screens in the UK on 6th December. Loosely based on The Snow Queen, the animators travelled to Norway’s magnificent fjords to seek inspiration for the film.

Follow in the frosty footsteps of the research team with an enchanting trip to 17th century Røros. A UNESCO World Heritage site, here you’ll discover an enthralling, wintry world of well-preserved wooden houses, candlelit coffee shops and a historical church dusted with snow, plus captivating folklore that harks back to the town’s copper mining heritage (guided tours of the mine are available locally).

For extra sparkle, travel in early December and catch the town’s annual Christmas fair (6-8th). Cross country skiing (from £26 pp), snow mobiling (from £96 pp) and dog sledding (from £166 pp) are also available in the picturesque surrounding area of Trøndelag.

Foodies won’t be disappointed either: Røros is famed for the diversity and quality of its local fare. Ecological, seasonal and local produce is the order of the day throughout the town and a food safari (500 NOK payable locally) has been developed to highlight some of the best manufacturers in the region.

The four-night Winter Break in Roros costs from £845 pp (two sharing). The price includes return flights (Heathrow), B&B at Hotel Røros and return transfers. Call Sunvil Discovery (020 8758 4722, http://www.sunvil.co.uk).
