DALLAS - Nov. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- Many of you know the differences and advantages of SIP (VoIP) trunk lines (Dial Tone) versus Digital PRI’s.  For those who are new at this, VoIP trunks offer many advantages over Digital PRI’s.  Some SIP services offer flexible monthly service plans that allow companies to adjust in high/low call volume.  Think about the Christmas season (or Holiday Season for some), when retail kicks into high gear and call volume spikes.  The Good SIP providers have no contracts and the users can utilize the Customer Portal to adjust to a plan that meets their needs.

By the way, an advantage to not having a contract is a good sign.  The incentive to perform couldn’t be higher.  That’s the bottom line so let’s move on.  The SIP trunk provider we like offers unlimited call paths.  I’ll write is again.  Unlimited Call Paths.  Digital PRI’s will only provide a maximum of 23 channels and there’s not much flexibility.  Specifically a company has to accept the increments of channels being delivered if less than 23.  That number maybe 8 or 10 channels.  When the 9th or 10th call comes in/out a busy tone is heard.  Not very effective plus the PRI has a fixed cost per month under a contract.

E911.  Since more companies understand the VoIP process, they can now have employees working from their homes or remote offices as though they were all under one single roof.  The issue with PRI gets greater.  PRI can’t support greater than one E911 record (Address).  Most of the good SIP providers offer additional E911 addresses at a low cost (Maybe free).  This helps address safety and insurance issues.

Additional Area Codes-SIP Trunks offer any area code within the 50 states for as little as fifty cents a month/number.  Let’s say you have a head quarters in Dallas, Texas and you also offer services in Houston, Texas and/or Los Angeles, California.  You can obtain and publish the specific numbers and they will ring into your Dallas Office.  Your callers are not charged for Long Distance calls and nether are you.  The phone can also ring wherever you may have a remote employee located (Perhaps a home based employee).

Porting Existing Phone Numbers are easy.  Unlike PRI’s that only allow you to port your existing phone numbers within certain, “rate” centers, then play the forwarding game and nearly doubling your costs, SIP trunks can be ported from anywhere and too anywhere.  There are no boundaries and no additional costs apply.
