Follow on Google News | Support for the Philippines Fundraiser Event PlymouthThe event will take place on Saturday 23rd of November at Master St James Black Belt Academy in Plymouth, between the hours of 12.00pm and 18.00pm. Both kids and adults will take time out of their day to come to the academy to help raise money through their respected Martial Art disciplines. The children, with friends and family, are doing a Kick-a-thon. The aim of which is for each person to perform one thousand kicks and raise as much money as possible. The adult students are doing a Spar-a-thon. The goal of which is to spar in either kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, or Eskrima (a traditional Filipino Martial Arts) for the full six hours and will be sponsored for there efforts. Master Anton St James, chief instructor of the academy, has been associated with the Filipino community for over 15 years. During that time he has constantly trying raise awareness of the Filipino martial arts within the south west. He has also travelled extensively to the Philippines, and has many close friends that have been badly affected by the recent typhoon Haiyan. He said about the event "I am extremely grateful that our students rallied to this cause in such a fantastic way. I know the affected people of the Philippines will be eternally grateful for the support."
