LAKOS and Laval Underground Surveys Announce the 2013 Groundwater Scholarship Winners
LAKOS and LUS have selected Brian Spain and Samantha Angeline as the 2013 Ben Everson Scholarship Award winners.
Spain is in his final year of school at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo where he is majoring in Agriculture Systems Management with an emphasis in irrigation, along with a water science minor. From a very young age Spain was exposed to the importance of irrigation and the need for water in farming communities. After college he hopes to find a career within the irrigation dealer industry.
Angeline is attending West Virginia University, majoring in Landscape Architecture. She looks forward to using her degree in the future to design and plan park landscapes, where precious water supplies will play an important role. Angeline says that our growing population, combined with a shrinking groundwater supply, means that cities and parks need to be more aware of how water is being used.
The two companies are now accepting applications for the 2014-2015 school year. All applications are due by July 1, 2014. The winners will be announced in August 2014. To read qualification details, apply online, and learn more about the winners, visit beneversonscholarship.com.
