Two New ISO Standards Now Available From NFPA - ISO 14540:2013 and ISO 14541:2013

MILWAUKEE - Nov. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Two new ISO standards have recently been published and are now available from the National Fluid Power Association (NFPA).

ISO 14540:2013, Hydraulic fluid power -- Dimensions and requirements for screw-to-connect quick-action couplings for use at a pressure of 72 MPa (720 bar)

This International Standard specifies dimensional and performance requirements for hydraulic screw-to-connect quick-action couplings designed to be used at pressure of 72 MPa (720 bar) in static conditions as an interface between a hydraulic power unit and a tool. Typical applications for these couplings are related to hydraulic jacks, rams, clamping devices, hand tools, and cylinders.

ISO 14540 covers two types of such couplings: the "P" type, which has a poppet valve, and the "S" type, which has a spherical valve.

Benefits: This dimensional interchangeability standard benefits users by allowing them to purchase hydraulic quick-action couplings from multiple suppliers, and manufacturers of these coupling to benefit from economies of scale afforded by the standard.

ISO 14541:2013, Hydraulic fluid power -- Dimensions and requirements for screw-to-connect quick-action couplings for general purpose

This International Standard specifies the dimensional and performance requirements for hydraulic screw-to-connect quick-action couplings for general use.

Benefits: This dimensional interchangeability standard benefits users by allowing them to purchase hydraulic quick-action couplings from multiple suppliers, and manufacturers of these coupling to benefit from economies of scale afforded by the standard.

NFPA provides a forum for the fluid power industry’s channel partners—manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, customers and educators. Its U.S. and multinational members work cooperatively in advancing hydraulic and pneumatic technology through the association’s many programs and initiatives. NFPA coordinates standards development for fluid power at the industry and international levels. These standards are intended as guides to aid the manufacturer, the consumer, and the user.
