International School wins 2013 Prism Award for ICF Coaching with P.E.T. Parent Support
As an example of exceptional application of leadership and parent training, Gordon Training International is proud to report the recent acceptance of the International Coaching Federation 2013 Prism Award by Turkey's Isikkent Schools.
This year's award was bestowed on Isikkent School who serves a K through 12 student body and has worked diligently since 2009 to implement a leadership and coaching style approach in every interaction with the student body and their families. In 2008, the schools reported high percentages of disciplinary actions at both the middle and high school levels. Since adopting the ICF'S Organizational Coaching style of teaching and Gordon Training International's Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T.) in 2009, disciplinary rates have dropped significantly.

"I have been the consultant and the nominating coach of the school since 2009. The very important part of the project is PET trainings given to the parents in the school. These training were given by the certified GTI trainers," said Vedat Erol ICF Certified Coach, PCC, ACPC.
Parents at the school reported that the P.E.T. training increased their ability to communicate their needs more clearly and that they are more likely to resolve conflicts with their students in a mutually beneficial way.
The core teachings of the P.E.T. model are open communication, conflict resolution and the fostering of lasting relationships between parent and child through active listening, empathy and mutual respect.

"Coaching is essential to our future and the futures of the children of the Isikkent Schools," F. Okan Sezer, Head of Isikkent School said in his acceptance speech to ICF. "It gives us heart to think that everyone who participated in this program is likely to keep pushing the bar. The children who benefit from the ICF program, who may become teachers themselves one day, will say: "I learned my leadership skills at Isikkent Schools."
