Follow on Google News | Over 100 People to Plunge for Opportunity House in frigid waters of the Blue Marsh on December 14By: Opportunity House Opportunity House provides a wide array of services to homeless, formerly homeless and low-income families and individuals with the ultimate goal of self-sufficiency. In addition to services to meet basic needs of the homeless, services are provided to help individuals become and remain independent, responsible members of our community. Community services available to both homeless and low-income families and individuals include: 24 hour a day, 7 day a week childcare services through the Second Street Learning Center for children age 6 weeks through 12 years which will be the focus for this year’s Polar Plunge. The heart of Rotary is Service Above Self. Rotarians, around the world, work tirelessly volunteering their time individually and through their clubs to make their communities and their world a better place to live. West Reading-Wyomissing Rotary Club help to make their communities and the world a better place through their participation in Club Service, Community Service, Vocational Service and International Service activities. Rick Herbert, chair for the event shared, “Second Street Learning Center at Opportunity House is an outstanding family program in Berks County. We are honored to support them with the proceeds from this year’s West Reading/Wyomissing Rotary Polar Plunge. Is there any better way to support our local community than giving to a program that supports families and their children?” Lorri Oziri, Vice President of Development for Opportunity House shared, “We are thrilled to benefit from this year’s Polar Plunge and want to say thank you to an amazing group of people”. “Regardless of the water temperature, the West Reading/Wyomissing Rotary Club is bringing warmth to all of our families and kids who will benefit, and their effort will help to provide safe, affordable childcare to more kids at the Second Street Learning Center.” The Polar Plunge will take place on December 14beginning at 11 a.m. with registration.
