Celebrating Roots&Choice and Work Movement Anniversary

"I think I’ve found the meaning in life. That is to be happy. We are here for a limited period. Everyone is.”

LONDON - Nov. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- After working in the research and intelligence industry for over a decade, one day, Paramjeev decided to quit his job.  Somehow, it appears to be an impasse in his career.  So he took a ‘gap year’ to re-orient.

It is intriguing, to a certain extent, how materializing one’s dream could mean “back to square one”, or “starting all over again”.  But it was not quite the case to PJ. Yes, he did start over. He started a research and intelligence firm named Roots&Choice (www.rootschoice.com) in 2012.  But this is just half of the story.  Seldom would anyone conceive the start-up to be a social enterprise, which sponsors philanthropically as much as half of its gains to charity causes.

As a trusted researcher and intelligence provider, Roots&Choice mainly operates in four business domains, namely strategy research, intellectual property research, investment research and the social impact research.

One striking difference of his company is that it capitalizes on the synergy effects brought forward by research done in various fields.  The knowledge and expertise of one field can be skillfully used as a supplement in other research areas. “Because we know about technology, we can help [companies] in market growth. Because we know about the market demand, we can help companies to get better investments.”

On top of this, the company is equally dedicated to bringing about positive social impacts to the community, as well as guiding international institutions their way to contribute whilst expanding businesses.

Indeed, it is not the first organization PJ has ever founded. Work Movement, an NGO which aims to solve global inequality came into existence before Roots&Choice. Half of the profit generated by the intelligence firm is used to support different social initiatives of Work Movement.

A recent project is to make a movie for a group of traumatized orphan girls from India. By putting together all the “cheer up messages” from around the world, PJ hopes the movie can help reignite their spirit and restore their confidence, thereby allowing the girls to lead normal lives again.

Despite the ups and downs in his career, PJ figured out that the corporate world is where he belongs.  After all, intelligence and research is where his expertise lies in. But it is that one whole gap year which allowed him to realize his passion.

PJ admitted that finding the right talents is not easy. “We want this vision to be reflected in each of our company member. It’s hard to find people who share our vision and passion.”

To him, it’s not just the idea itself but the people that matters. By maintaining a joyful culture and positive atmosphere in his company, PJ hopes that Roots&Choice can truly be a social enterprise that makes people’s lives better.

“I think I’ve found the meaning in life. That is to be happy. We are here for a limited period. Everyone is.” “Life is a journey and we should make the best out of it. Be happy and have fun.
