CHICAGO - Nov. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- The first and only WeatherBug reporting station in the Edison Park community, the unit monitors and reports real-time information about weather conditions. Data on temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, rainfall, wind and solar activity are monitored and fed to the school’s web site as well as, and desktop computer and mobile device applications.

The school also acquired WeatherBug Achieve interactive educational software for classroom use. Teachers can apply real-world conditions to help teach skills and concepts in a variety of core subjects. Using current and historical weather data that is local to the school makes it a more meaningful learning experience for students working on science, technology and math exercises.

"We are excited to bring a WeatherBug station to our school, as it will help bring science to life for our students." said Katrina McDermott, principal. "The station and WeatherBug software will give them the opportunity to further their knowledge about weather and climate by using current technological tools."

By participating in the WeatherBug program, St. Juliana School provides the surrounding community with a variety of benefits as well:

∙ Availability of neighborhood-level weather
∙ Instant weather alerts from the #1 Internet weather resource, the WeatherBug Desktop application
∙ Local weather downloads for iOS, Android and Windows wireless devices
∙ Improved ability to track - and respond to - dangerous, weather conditions
∙ Participation in Homeland Security WeatherBug Network, providing live local weather information for improved emergency response.

The WeatherBug media partner in Chicago, WGN, leverages the WeatherBug national network of tracking stations to offer area residents the most local, up-to-the-second weather information available across the country. Now, WGN will also be able to feature neighborhood-level reports from St. Juliana School during its daily newscasts on-air and online.
