ORLAND PARK, Ill. - Nov. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- Community Honda, an Orland Park car dealership, is excited to announce Honda will be unveiling a new hydrogen fuel-cell concept vehicle. The car, named the Honda FCEV Concept, will go on display November 20, 2013 at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show alongside the upgraded 2014 Honda Civic.

Honda is currently working towards the release of their next-generation hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. The Honda FCEV Concept vehicle should, at the very least, give a hint of the styling and capability of the future model. Honda plans to launch that vehicle in the United States sometime in the year 2015.

While Honda has also released electric cars like the 2013 Honda Fit EV and hybrids such as the new 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In, the use of hydrogen technology yields the promise of a zero-emissions vehicle. A fully electric car does not produce any emissions on its own, but not all sources of electricity produce zero emissions.

With a hydrogen-powered Honda, the only byproduct would be water. Besides that, the major benefit is the car uses a chemical resource that could be found readily in the United States—reducing the need for foreign oil—and the supply can never be eliminated.

Honda has long been at the forefront of hydrogen fuel cell research in development. They were the first automaker to begin leasing hydrogen cars for fleet use back in 2002 and in 2005 became the first automaker to sell hydrogen cars to the normal consumer.

Currently the Honda FCX Clarity is available for sale and lease in the Southern California area. These models have a range of 240 miles solely on hydrogen power and rated at 77 miles per kilogram of hydrogen in the city and 67 on the highway. While cost of a kilogram of hydrogen is around $5, the higher cost is unimportant due to the increased efficiency of the vehicle.

Community Honda will have more information on the hydrogen concept car when it’s unveiled later this month. In the meantime, please contact the dealership with any questions through their website or by calling (888) 631-5959. The dealership currently stocks the latest 2014 Honda models at 8340 W. 159th Street in Orland Park, Illinois.
