Follow on Google News | PopUp Republic Launches Holiday Pop-Up Gallery in Vacant Brookline Village Retail ComplexPopUp Republic (www.popuprepublic.com), whose city-by-city pop-up directory & strategic tweets promote forthcoming pop-up shops and restaurants, is filling an otherwise empty retail complex during the holiday with artisanal pop-up shops.
By: PopUp Republic “Our pop-up marketplace, which opened in August, is already invigorating an area of town that has been commercially challenged for several years,” said Jeremy Baras, CEO of PopUp Republic. “It has not only attracted thousands of people to check out the galleries and shops, but it has also drawn considerable media attention as the pop-up marketplace helps to re-invent retail in Brookline Village.” The next rotation of pop-ups includes some special attractions that should add to the uniqueness of the shopping experience. Already, the storefront windows are festooned with dazzling lightworks from the world-renowned Sina Lightworks, whose installations adorn museums and major architectural edifices around the globe. The Holiday Pop-Up Marketplace will showcase merchants and artists in three separate stores at 2 Brookline Place: * Boston Handmade, the Boston-area’ * a2n2, an on-site studio and gallery of nationally-acclaimed artist Anna Koon, will display a collection of her unique, contemporary art and also give visitors the. opportunity to watch Ms. Koon as she creates new works in the studio/gallery. Anna Koon’s artwork can be found in private collections across the United States. Patrons will be able to view and purchase her works beginning November 16th. * The Pop-Up Shop, a marketplace of local artists and merchants whose one-of-a-kind items provide exciting alternatives for holiday gift-giving. The pop-up shop features art, photography, jewelry, accessories and other unique handcrafted items. The Holiday Pop-Up Marketplace will also be a participant in the townwide First Light Festival, due to take place on Thursday evening, November 21, from 5 to 8 pm. Various musical and dance groups will entertain, refreshments will be served, and the pop-up merchants will keep their doors open for shoppers to have a truly comfortable, yet extraordinary shopping experience. PopUp Republic works with local landlords and economic development officials to curate pop-ups in order to provide brick-and-mortar outlets for emerging artists and entrepreneurs, and to “stage” otherwise-vacant storefronts in order to showcase them as viable commercial locations.
