ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Nov. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- A recent case handled by Anchorage-based Criminal Defense Attorney Ben Crittenden demonstrates what a criminal defense attorney can do for someone charged with a crime.

In this specific case, an individual was charged with three counts of Medical Assistance Fraud which are Class C felonies. A Class C Felony carries a maximum prison sentence of up to five years and a fine of up to $50,000. (Alaska Stat. §§ 12.55.035, 12.55.125.)

"When faced with serious charges, a defendant needs to consult with an experienced criminal defense attorney who can review the facts of the case and properly assess the punishments that are reasonable given the circumstances," say Attorney Ben Crittenden of the Law Office of Ben Crittenden.

Attorney Crittenden reviewed the discovery in the case and, after investigating other outside factors, recommended a plea bargain.

"I reviewed the discovery and explained to the assistant district attorney that my client had vzyno defenses to the charges and that the state should offer him a misdemeanor in light of his defenses and minimal criminal history.  The assistant district attorney agreed and my client plead guilty to a single misdemeanor count of Medicaid Fraud, with no jail time and some community work service." explained Attorney Crittenden.

"This is a good example of the work a criminal defense attorney can do for someone charged with a crime."
