Local Thought-Leader Speaks on Building A Team For The Future

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Nov. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Reed Moore of RMG Real Estate Experts with Keller Williams recently spoke to over 300 real estate professionals at BoomTown Unite, an annual client conference hosted by BoomTown in Charleston, SC.

Moore led a presentation on how to build a team for the future. He credits his team’s success to team engagement and work-life integration. According to Moore, teams that integrate their lives into their work are more productive, more profitable; see less employee turnover and less absenteeism.

“In our industry, especially in the year 2013, we don’t have mechanical workers. We have knowledge workers. And the work force that now is, and absolutely will be coming down the pipe in the future, is a group of people who wants their lives to matter in its entirety,” said Moore. “In fact, they’re not looking to have work-life balance, but instead they desire work-life integration.”

Moore noted that engagement starts at a life level and telling someone to leave their life at home when they come into the office results in a disengaged work force. “What happens is the brilliance and genius and all that make someone great will also be left at home.”

The key to building an engaged team is to stop managing and start leading advised Moore. To do this he provided five steps for leaders to employ.

1. Give your people a voice.

2. Intentionally create culture.

3. Regularly demonstrate appreciation and gratitude.

4. Commit to open and honest communication.

5. Support career path development.

BoomTown Unite is an annual conference held by BoomTown, a real estate software company in Charleston, SC. This event is a chance for BoomTown clients to come together to share knowledge and network among thought leaders in the industry.
