W.I.S.H. (Women Inspiring Strength And Hope) Society Honoree Raises Funds To Grant 3 Local Wishes

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Nov. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Lake Norman resident Robin Smith-Salzman has reached out to the community, and the response was overwhelming. As a W.I.S.H. Society nominee, Robin was asked to raise $6,000 to fund the wish of a local child, but pledged to raise enough funds to grant over three wishes. The prominent Lake Norman businesswoman is currently the Owner/Marketing Director of both Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Gastonia Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. With her leadership guiding the charitable efforts, the dealerships have been able to donate over a million dollars in the past ten years. Her professional achievements include Business Today's Top Women Business Leaders Award, Market Manager of the Year Award for CBS Radio, and receiving the Lake Norman Chamber Champions of Diversity Award.

Robin is the proud mother of three and grandmother of six. Her connection to Make-A-Wish® started when she and her husband Jack adopted and funded a wish earlier this year. They were personally fulfilled by the experience and saw the Power of a Wish® firsthand. “I am humbled to be honored by this organization that does so much for our community's children's and families in need.” She hopes to be able to meet other incredible women in the community and further her abilities to give back. She is also delighted to be able to grant another child’s wish. At the Luncheon, Robin was introduced to Torie, the first wish she will be funding. Torie’s wish is to attend the Victoria’s Secret Fashion show.

The inaugural W.I.S.H. Society program will honor 21 women and grant a minimum of 21 wishes of children battling incredible odds in our community. The women being honored were chosen for their career success, their significant contributions to the community and their personal passion and commitment to Make-A-Wish. The program culminates with an Honoree Luncheon
this Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Chima Brazilian Steakhouse, the exclusive host sponsor of the event. The W.I.S.H. Society is a unique opportunity for women to not only network with other incredible individuals but to inspire women in our community to make a difference in the lives of local children who have been diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich their lives with hope, strength and joy at a time when they need it most.

Over the 30-year history of Make-A-Wish, it has been discovered that the benefits of granting a wish extend well beyond the initial event. A wish come true helps children feel stronger, more energetic, more willing and able to battle their life-threatening medical conditions.  For many of them, it marks a turning point in their fight.  For their doctors, nurses and other health professionals, the wish experience works in concert with medicine to make their patients feel better, emotionally and even physically.
