Healthcare Crowdfunding Startup to give to the relief efforts for Typhoon Haiyan
Tomorrow's Health, a next generation healthcare clinic with full genome sequencing, is donating part of each pledge in its recently launched crowdfunding campaign to relief efforts for Typhoon Haiyan.
Healthcare startup, Tomorrow's Health, just launched its crowdfunding campaign to revolutionize healthcare through full genome sequencing and preventive medicine. They have committed to giving part of every pledge to back their campaign from Nov. 10th-Nov.24th to help with relief efforts for the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Twenty percent of every pledge by its backers will be donated directly to the Philippine Red Cross to have the greatest impact on the relief efforts for the disaster.
Brent House, founder of Tomorrow's Health, said, "We all talked at Tomorrow's Health and decided we needed to help and thought we had the perfect vehicle to do that. Since we are just beginning our crowdfunding campaign to change healthcare it is a natural fit to let our backers help not only one worthy cause, but two."
Tomorrow's Health is a new startup and is focused on bringing world-class personalized, preventive medicine to healthcare. It wants to change the way patients receive treatment by integrating the sequencing of their complete genome (or DNA) into their patient records so that their expertly trained doctors and geneticists can help them prevent diseases they may have a high probability of getting in the future. This will shift the focus of healthcare to being preventive and give their patients a uniquely tailored wellness plan to help them live longer, healthier lives.
Brent House is the Founder of Tomorrow's Health and has served as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy. He is an advocate for personalized medicine using complete genome sequencing and preventive medical practices in every patient's ongoing healthcare. He has worked on malaria vaccine and drug development at the Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC) and at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR). He has also worked for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on infectious disease surveillance in the Middle East and Central Asia.
