Adora Donates to Miller Children’s Hospital Through “Designed By Kids for Kids"

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Nov. 7, 2013 - PRLog -- Laguna Hills, CA, November 6, 2013: California-based designer, developer, and marketer of award-winning dolls and toys, Adora visited Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach, California to give a donation on behalf of their new interactive kid’s campaign “Designed by Kids for Kids”. The new program will annually feature one “Young Designer” that will work alongside Adora’s design team throughout the creative process of designing an outfit for their 18” Friends line of dolls. The final outfit and its Young Designer will be featured in the Adora catalog and the outfit will be available for purchase online and in stores. In addition, the chosen Young Designer will get to pick a favorite charity of theirs that they can give a financial donation to on behalf of Adora.

The company, who’s known for “Spreading Love & Joy”, created the program to promote their belief that kids are incredibly creative, intelligent and full of bright ideas by providing a vehicle where they can showcase their inventiveness and design something they’re proud of. In addition, Adora hopes that the program will help to develop the child’s potential while also giving back to the community. According to Peggy Vicioso, VP Marketing & Product Development for Charisma Brands, the parent company of Adora dolls, “We are thrilled with the excitement for our new program that gives kids a chance to be totally creative and ‘give back’ to the charity of their choice. We are hoping to help teach kids to Spread Love & Joy. This week’s trip to Millers Children’s Hospital was an incredible and unforgettable experience.”

In its initial year, Designed by Kids for Kids chose Kayla Y. as their Young Designer, a vibrant and bright eight year old from Southern California who loves sports, dance and has an eye for fashion. Kayla collaborated with Adora’s designers by putting together creative boards, choosing colors and patterns and discussing which kinds of outfits she would like most on the dolls. “Kayla’s Panda Outfit” was the final result and can be seen in the upcoming 2014 Adora catalog.

For her charity, Kayla chose Miller Children’s hospital where her brother was a former patient and her mother, Kimberly works as a staff writer. On Adora’s visit to give the donation, they visited with many of the children and handed out toys along with the Adora Fairy and Kayla’s family. Kayla loved the idea doing something she loved while giving back to the community, adding that “people who are sick need a little happiness too.”
