Toronto ON – November 2013 - This November the Adoption Council of Ontario (ACO) will join the entire national adoption community to raise awareness about the urgent need for adoptive families required for our children at risk of growing up without a family. Our theme for this year’s campaign is Partnerships for Permanency. Government, child welfare agencies, adoption professionals and adoptive families must join together to bring about change from within our system if we are really going to make a difference in the outcomes for vulnerable children waiting in foster care for a family. Key to our success will be our ability to support the critical connections of Ontario families with waiting children. ACO is leading the way by making information available for anyone touched by adoption and becoming an advocate for all the parties involved. ACO Executive Director Pat Convery says she’s encouraged by the results of the ‘first of its kind’, Canadian Attitudes about Adoption Survey, (http://bit.ly/ The path to change is starting this month but ACO works year round to continue their efforts of communication and support and is committed to keeping the conversation going until we have built the bridges, reduced the barriers and can confidently know that all waiting children will have the opportunity to leave our foster care system with a family in the future.
